MD2600 meeting notes
Several of us recently met to discuss the lack of attendance in md2600 meetings. Minutes of the meeting are posted at http://www.md2600.org/md2600.html
Topics discussed at the meeting were Location, Time, Meeting format, Recruitment/Advertisement, and Website changes.
As a result, I'll be handling the web design for portions of the website, news blog, and resurrecting the newsletter Infinite Shadows. In August, the www.md2600.org website will have up-to-date information about md2600 events.
Please feel free to participate. You don't have to attend the meetings, although that is always preferable. There are plenty of other ways to communicate and get involved. This LJ community, the #md2600 IRC channel on 2600.net, and a future mailing list is in the works. Want to setup a md2600 myspace, flickr, bbs... whatever website, tell everyone about it, or at least post it somewhere and let everyone else talk about it.

As per someone's suggestion earlier in one of the hacker comms on LJ (I think from lj2600
), I'm thinking of putting together a GLBT/Queer BoF for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Trans hackers/phreakers/geeks to get together and socialize and make new friends. Would you be interested in going to said BoF? Should I submit it on the Wiki?
Also, is there a ride board up on the Wiki or a forum somewhere? I looked briefly on the Wiki and didn't see one. If not, I guess I should start one.
Anyway, I might as well post my ride ad here too.( Ride needed from DC area to NYCCollapse )

Women in 2600 panel?
So HOPE Number 6 is coming upon us again. I'm wondering if we want to do the "Women in 2600" panel again... only this time as a scheduled talk.
Is there any interest?
Would you be on the panel?
Do you have any ideas for questions to ask the panelists? (I'll eventually get a list of the ones we used at The Fifth HOPE up in ch1x0rz
If there's interest and I can schedule panelists ahead of time, then I'll submit it as a talk and we'll do this thing. If not, well, perhaps it'll get stuck back on the "C" track again (if they *have* the C track again this year).
...I've also thought of doing a panel of Queers in 2600, dealing with sexual orientation in the hacking world. Do you think we should do this also? Or perhaps instead of Women in 2600?
I just thought I'd throw these ideas out there and get feedback.
Oh, and if you know of a place that this should be crossposted to help recruit panelists, feel free to do some crossposting yourself... just make sure that when you post it, you put a link back to the post in this post so that I can keep track of all the threads and ideas.

Hello, I will be passing on a bandycam
sometime to someone. Dunno who, and dunno when yet. But the camera is bought, and the number has been registered.
When you get it, just take 1 snapshot of whatever you'd like to show md2600. Please don't break any laws doing so, but if you were breaking laws already and just took a snapshot of something that would not incrimidate you then feel free to do so. Please do not just take pictures of meets, be more creative. Also you'll notice the camera will have a number, so when you get it, you can goto www.bandycams.com, type in the number, and add something to the journal.
The results will be used for a future project to be announced.
If you guys enjoy it, I may release more cameras in the future.

Undelete under GNU/Linux?
I just deleted a bunch of stuff I don't have backups of (doh! Shoulda checked my Trash bin BEFORE emptying it). Anyway, I'm using a journaling filing system (it's not Reiserfs... I'm not sure which one. ext3 perhaps?). I JUST deleted them... like 3 minutes ago.
There's gotta be SOME way to recover data... any help?

Women in Hacking/Computing BoF @ ShmooCon!
So I see that there's spaces for sign up BoFs @ ShmooCon.
I'm going to try to get a space for the Women in Hacking/Computing thing we did @ The Fifth Hope.
I figure, because it's an hour, we'll do a bit of a panel at first (if not just opening it up to a free for all for just women at first), and then take half an hour and make it a free for all for anyone.
If you wish to be on the panel/speak, please get in touch with me ASAP. If you wish to help with logistics (making and posting flyers, etc.), even better! TXTing me would be great (there's a free TXT interface in my info page), but however works.

Yep, you got it! Technically 5-8 (but something tells me most places have a "show up @ 7, we'll be going until whenever" policy). Find your local meet @ http://www.2600.com/meetings/mtg.html
FYI, I'm going to the DC2600 meet tonight, so if anyone from the MD2600 meet wants to see me, head on down.

Meeting is tomorrow! I'm thinking of going. Might bring my girlfriend, not sure yet. So I don't know how long I'll stay [if I do come].
I have a few projects and things I want to talk about/get help on anyway. Oh and those of you with laptop(s) for me...bring them tomorrow ;)
I think I'll come after all.

I made this community because I noticed that everyone in the channel has a lj now. If you know what I'm talking about join and post things so this place doesn't become one of those lifeless communities clogging up cyberspace.
